About The Artwork

Foto Safari 2023 - Post #2 - The Jupiter-Venus Conjunction, February 26th, 2023, at 7:35 PM. I took this photo a few days before the Conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. In astronomy, a Conjunction is where two planetary objects appear to meet in the sky, although they are a million miles apart. Jupiter and Venus do this dance, I believe, once a year. However, what makes this one special is that this will be the closest they will appear for some time when observed from Earth. Although there will be other times when they will share the sky, the next time we can see they will kiss is September 2nd, 2039. I'll be 70 then... (sigh) The photo is part of a series intended to be published when finished. Gear and Settings: I used the Panasonic Lumix S5 MII with the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 at 24mm. This shot's settings were f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 10 seconds with an ISO of 1600. Photography allows me to create a more nuanced, realistic view of my worldview using photography. Landscapes are perhaps the most candid photos to take but the hardest to get right. With my landscapes, I want to remind the viewer how small humankind is. How important that we try to be kinder to each other and our world. We are just stories at the end; we only need to make them good ones. Are you looking for a unique gift? Most of my photos are printed exclusively on Hahnemühle's Photo Rag® Metallic. The print is 16"x24" on an 18"x26" sheet of paper. That provides enough room for the framer to avoid losing much behind the frame. The photos are signed and numbered by me with no watermark. There will be only 200 printed for the first edition.
