ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Critical Thinking: Series of 9 Monoprints. Surreal Pop Art, Photographic Collage including 50's photos and details from 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' (this is the modern title given to the triptych painted by the Early Netherlandish master Hieronymus Bosch, housed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid since 1939). Full of symbolism, these composites have been updated from an earlier series from 2020 - composited against details from the third right hand panel illustrating scenes from Hell. Many elements in the panel incorporate earlier iconographical conventions depicting hell. However, Bosch is innovative in that he describes hell not as a fantastical space, but as a realistic world containing many elements from day-to-day human life.* This edition is offered as a 20x24 inch monoprint so that collectors have the opportunity to buy work at the definitive stage of a new and important collection of works. These artworks are also available as 'Open Edition' (unsigned) prints in various sizes and formats via Saatchi. Click on the *Prints* option for more information. This series is attributed to my alter-ego 'Pavlov Bellwether' aka Jack Smith - working as 'The Emperor's New Clothes Collective'.** This is an addition to the 'Too Blind To See' - Series - #2020 Vision. Collage of 50s advertising photographs and digitally composited sheep and floral elements set against scenes from the right hand panel from the Hieronymus Bosch painting 'The Garden of Earthly Delights'. * • Type: Fine-Art Print • Medium: Giclée • Materials: 100% Cotton Paper • Paper Type: Hahnemühle German Etching • Gallery Edition: Monoprint • Overall Paper Size: 20" x 24" • Image: approx 16" x 19" • This artwork is sold unframed • Hand-signed by the artist (in pencil)** • Includes Certificate of Authenticity Artwork will be shipped rolled in secure tube. *Artists are meant to question everything - often taking the road less travelled.
