My name is Zubair Ahmed Qureshi. I was born at Sialkot on 15th March 1970. I opened my eyes in a family whose family profession was art of calligraphy, teaching and practicing hikmat. After being inherited I learnt this art of calligraphy by my father Jamil Qureshi(Late), a renowned calligrapher of Muslim world. He also was inherited this art by his ancestors. Amongst these were Said Ahmed Qureshi and Mehmoodullah Siddique with art name Almaas Raqam (a famous calligrapher). According to my father Jamil Ahmed Qureshi our family played a significant role in subcontinent related to this art. Amongst our ancestors there was a woman who wrote a “Qaseedah” for one of royals at that time and was honorably awarded with “parganas” a name for certain villages, as a property. My grandfather caliigraphed a Quran pak in 30”x40” size. 10 parahs were sent to Delhi, 10 parahs were sent Baghdad and remaining 10 parahs were sent to Mecca sharif. INPIRATION: I am largely inspired with the personality and skills of my father and especially with his most important innovations in this art. With this innovation he happened to broaden the art of Islamic calligraphy. He had a great wish to write a book on new possibilities in this art. According to him Ibne Mauqlah contributed for the last thousand years and for next thousand years, he said “I have contributed with my style Alter-freed.” With this innovated style or process we get an immensely large number of possibilities to compose or making tughras.
