Greg Wilson is a 40-year-old Black, Gay, HIV+ Community activist, Artist, Photographer, Author, and Bridge to Resources for the Community. Having experienced Homelessness, Depression, Sexual Assault and HIV Infection, Greg has found that overcoming these barriers has inspired him to find Healing through Art (heART). Greg describes his experiences and journey in his book entitled “Metamorphosis of a Heart.” This book has been used as a tool to assist people with finding power within their stories and recognizing their abilities to overcome the challenges that may come in life. Greg has facilitated workshops and trainings within schools (High schools, Colleges and Trade Schools) and with other local community organizations to parallel Wellness and Healing through the Art (to include writing and photography). Greg Wilson also currently works for a Community-based organization called In The Meantime Men’s Group, based in Los Angeles, and in the 16+ years that Greg has worked in the Public Health field, he has linked numerous men and women into HIV treatment as well as other needed services to include housing, mental health services, PrEP programs and substance abuse treatment. “Imagine being a person that once needed healing and guidance to access resources, to now being a bridge for the community providing tools for healing and access to the resources I can now navigate people to. This is a part of my purpose. My hope is to introduce people to ‘heART’- Healing through Art.”
