ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I love to photograph in the so-called 'Golden Hour' so I was down at the sea watching the sun. The clouded horizon is smoke from a nearby mountain fire. It was an isolated area and then I noticed this girl just standing watching the end of the day. Who she was and what she was thinking about is a mystery but I really enjoy looking at this image and putting my own thoughts into play. The lighting is deliberately on the dark side to preserve the sense of mystery. It remains one of my favorite images. As always I limit the number of prints to twenty so that each one has a special feeling. It was taken near Cape Town but the location is irrelevant - the scene could be anywhere and is timeless. My personal preference is for a framed print on fine art paper but it is equally effective captured on canvas.
