It’s a story about a group of Transsexual people living in my neighborhood. This is not so easy to show their life if we consider the social & religious circumstances of my country. Religious beliefs and cultural standards of morality make transsexuality an unacceptable abomination in Bangladesh. The ‘Hijra’, as transsexuals are called locally, are ostracized and thus live together in small communities. Yet social stigma is not enough to dent their unshakeable faith in life. But even though they are a visible reality of the society we live in & part of it. The transsexual people traditionally dance with newborn babies & collect money from their parents which they thought was their right. Rather than these, they perform as a dancer or singer in social festivals like weddings, birthday parties, etc. to provide entertainment occasionally. But in different social circumstances, many of them worked as sex workers at night on streets & stations for a living. To me, it's quite fascinating to capture their moments and share their stories with the world. As a subject, they are very captivating and breathtaking. So in 2011, I decided to spend hours and hours with them to see their community life to portray the beauty and agony of their life.
