Dream 1 - Limited Edition of 3 Print

Dream 1 is the first of a series of studio shoots involving various female models in different poses, with different attitudes and in different stages of undressing. The almost 50.000 pictures were taken during a period of about 10 months. The series of photoshoots stemmed from the initial idea of using images of women in a commercial setting for ad campaigns contributing to the promotion of alternative energies. The alternative energy had to be embodied by female beauty and linked to the intrinsic power of the eternal feminine. It is also an introspection by the artist, who is in fact a painter. He started this endeavour with the unconscious aim to negate his previous life, ordinary and boring, and enter a world of glamour and sex, and voyeurism too. He also caused grave difficulties to his marriage, due to the jealousy of his wife towards the models. So, in fact, although these pictures seem ordinary commercial shots, they hide a state of highly unbalanced energy and of disturbing thoughts by the author, who unconsciously wanted this series to be his "end of the world" self-immolation song (involving the destruction of his personal and professional life). This apocalyptic scenario did not materialise, since he and his marriage survived this phase. It however caused some serious physical problems to the artist, who was almost killed by an undiagnosed peritoneal perforation. He had to be urgently hospitalised and underwent a surgical procedure in order to remove a diverticulum, called Meckel's diverticulum, which had been perforated by bacterial infection.
