Ethereal outdoor floral portrait of Echinacea blossom using in-camera and analog techniques​ only. Part of a larger series (Portraits of Nature) highlighting and depicting the beauty of nature throughout its entire life cycle, through close-ups and unique perspectives. The work captures fleeting moments throughout the day when the light creates dramatic vignettes, reminiscent of a portrait studio. This particular piece (along with others in the series) is inspired by the soft expressive brushstrokes, blurred shapes, and colors of Claude Monet's work. The artist uses a unique toolbox of found object light modifiers and in-camera techniques (no photoshop) to create ethereal portraits of nature in the wild. She captures subjects in a way that reflects her personal experience with nature, both visually and emotionally.
