This piece belongs to a series of images taken at The State Fair of Texas fall of 2019. Using a 35mm camera, I was interested in what would come from submersing myself amidst a large crowd of people to document the moments that went unseen.

Alexandra Hulsey is an art director, photographer, and multimedia artist. In 2016 she received her BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art where she majored in photography with an emphasis on conceptualism. Alexandra has dedicated a life to creative practices from a young age. She spent her unconventional childhood browsing a library of art books, playing with vintage cameras and attending gallery exhibits. Alexandra’s process begins with an investigation that utilizes both philosophical and science-based resources. She then decides what mediums can best represent the findings, often turning to a mixture of photography and collage. Her work’s physical influences stem from patterns, shapes, and uncanny moments found in everyday life. Her art has evolved during her career through moments that evoke the duality of certainty against uncertainty. Yet, there is grounding that illuminates through her interest in the idea of simply existing. Alexandra values this ambiguity in her work because it allows the opportunity for self-reflection.
