ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Sheila and I had arrived late to Vermont (flight delays) and found ourselves navigating well-lit roads surrounded by stretches of tall darknesses til we safely reached Stowe, then, nearing midnight found and wound our way down Mountain Road. What you see here is what we woke to the next morning 😊 Thus began one of our more memorable among many memorable stays in Stowe. One time Sheila and I, as we told everyone, even got stuck in Stowe! Right before we went to Paris; but that's another story, years earlier and with other pictures. I grew up in the flat coastal plains of Houston and Galveston, so views like this weren't just new, but magical. I'm guessing that's also part of what makes my wife Sheila who she is 😊 ❀️ A few years later I painted an oil of this shot, and just recently created a watercolor sketch. Those I hope to offer here also the next few days.

082124 update - My earliest memories of making art were my early school years, 1st - 3rd grade, watching colors from crayons and watercolors dance with reflections from the light across rough bumpy paper 😊 I'm still working with that fascination, alternating between smooth and rough, lines and blocks of color. It's best to say, at nearly 74 years of age, I'm finally beginning to accept I don't like doing only fields of color, or line-work, or abstract or representational. So here at Saatchi Art, I present my smorgasbord of work in differing mediums or styles - but I do think what has always persisted is - my sense of awe with life - internal, external, and mingled.
