Emily Hayden is a figurative artist working in the traditional forms of oil paint and drawing media. Her work is symbiotic with the classical figure and contemporary culture. Emily seeks to evoke a strong presence of character from the subject, often working from photographs in which the person has been caught off guard or captured in situations that appear uncomfortable. Aesthetic principles are explored throughout her work via mathematical compositions and colour theory.
