ABOUT THE ARTWORK

0024 is part of the collection called "Gestalt Blue Skies", which I started in 2008. When we are presented with a partial view of an image, we 'complete the picture' even when we don't know what the whole image actually is. We invent the rest. We give it meaning. This doesn't just apply to images but to all human perception. That's Gestalt theory. In these images, I present a partial view of objects and leave it to the viewer to complete the picture. Ironically, although in these images we may invent the rest of the object, the whole of reality – our universe – lies in the blue skies beyond.

He has an obsessive interest in disentangling truth from "alternative truth" in the ‘post-truth’world. Christopher Cristóbal was born in Mexico City on 15.11.51 – a palindrome. He travelled to Europe on a one-way air ticket, hitchhiking for several months and winding up in London He has directed documentaries and educational television programmes and worked as a professional photographer. He is author of two books on architecture and sociall history: "Look Up! Winchester" and "Look Up! Salisbury". He has come to regard himself as an image creator, using the camera to record reality and transforming it into Platonic views. His images are impossible – however much some may resemble reality (see his essay, "True Colours" at his website: ).
