"Siena 2" is part of the “Giovanna” collection, resulting from the collaboration between prima ballerina Giovanna Martinatto and photographer Laura Abad as both undertook new, creative challenges in their careers. Giovanna retired from National Sodre Ballet (Uruguay) in 2017 and founded her own dance company as well as continuing to increase her focus on teaching ballet. Her taste for photography led to a collaboration with Laura for her first ever nude photo session. In 2017, Laura began to integrate abstract watercolor paintings with her landscape photos using various digital processes. This new technique was applied to Giovanna’s photos and, for the first time, over portraits. During the development of the project, color assumed an unexpected key role. The resulting images of “Giovanna” express the movement of both ballerina and water together, dyed according to five different chromatic atmospheres: Ámbar, Siena, Aguamarina, Malva and Cerceta. "Giovanna" is the representation of the desire to explore beyond the confort zone, with no particular expectations.

Laura Abad Guerrero – Born and raised in Montevideo, I am now based in Barcelona. For over 15 years, my journey as a photographer has been about exploring human communication through the deepest layers of beauty. Rooted in my family photo archive, cultivated over 70 years, and guided by an ever-evolving adoption of innovative forms of expression, my work is a dialogue that merges the purest manifestation of nature and the conscious application of cutting-edge technology. In this blend of curiosity, constant learning, and open-mindedness. Adding a color layer to some of my photos is a form of 'coloring outside the lines' that I started experimenting with in 2017. My initial images blending photography and watercolor were landscapes, inspired by the ever-changing color palette outside my window over the stormy Rio de la Plata. Recently, I’ve been exploring in the exciting world of AI and Synthography or Artificial Photography, where my lifelong passion for photography and painting merges with my fascination for technology. I'm particularly captivated by the concept that AI art has opened a new territory where technology is no longer just a tool but a medium; and then a partner in creation and part of the narrative.
