ABOUT THE ARTWORK
At every corner you turn in Venice is a picture. It's inevitable and also a gift. Is there a photograph of Venice more iconic than one set on the Grand Canal and featuring a gondolier amidst a long row of gondolas, against a backdrop of Venetian Gothic architecture? When I was there in 2015, I tried to capture the essence of Venice in one shot and this is it, featuring all of the above and more. When I look at it, I am transported back to my trip but also back in time; hundreds of years earlier and know that it is as if time in this magical city was being held tight whilst the rest of the world marched into a less poetic future.
