Richard Dawson (Photographer & Digital Artist) My work is influenced by many things, abstract art, architecture, ceramics, installation art and sculpture. I am fascinated by the beauty in colour, shape, form and the minute detail of the natural and man-made landscape. I have been taking photographs for over 35 years usually whilst walking through woodland, mountain or coastal areas, this is the starting point for my work. I use different techniques to abstract, highlight and accentuate my images to lift them from the everyday to something more evocative. I am inspired by Mark Rothko, Andy Goldsworthy, Howard Hodgkin, Anish Kapoor, Richard Long, Antony Gormley, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Cildo Meireles, Richard Avedon, Fay Godwin, Walker Evans, Sally Matthews. I produce the final work as high quality Giclée (MuseumArchive) prints at almost any size/format required. These can be professionally framed. As my work develops Im going to be exploring other print methods, materials and substrates to showcase the images. I also take commissions so please feel free to get in touch.
