After creating an initial tessellation a second copy is rotated and merged with the original - this further enhances the closure of form and creates a circularity in the design; speaking to the circular nature of life. The extreme close-up places this narrative at the cellular level. The image intends to provoke thoughts on mortality. The medium of the limited edition is Giclee on aluminium Dibond. --- This image is in my Tesselations series, a deceptively simple technique that requires precision in the shooting stage to create a base tile for the full tesselation. The result creates closures of form that generates an image that is at once both graphic and photographic. One sees the graphic nature of the image from a distance, and then appreciates the photographic on closer, or second look. A series of images that invites and rewards deeper contemplation.
