About The Artwork

Kundalini - 2018 Original artwork 80x60 cm Digital printing on canvas mounted on chassis. Single artist proof. Signed at the back. Comes with certificate of authenticity. About Mirage(s) series : WONDER > CENTER I wanted to express the feeling of wonder. For that I had to move away from the naturalistic photography that produced images always below what I felt. Paradoxically it is for the sake of realism that I had to add artifice. After many tests in composition, it is by rediscovering the power of the central symmetry that I finally succeeded my bet. These age-old principles implemented in sacred art are here revitalized by using a contemporary source image that is multiplicated. The clash between the current character of the material and the eternal character of the composition creates a kind of temporal weightlessness. CUBISM > SPHERISM The principle of deformation of the perspective implemented in the Mirage(s) series is reminiscent of cubism, although the aspect itself is different. One day, I was attending the vernissage of the exhibition of the artist Serge Mendjisky at the Lartigue gallery in Paris. I was trying to approach this old master for weeks since I had discovered one of his works "the whirling dervish", whose spirit seemed very close to my work. At one point, speaking to the small group of which I was a part, he exclaimed: "true Cubism will be done with photography". It is a phrase that Picasso himself once told him in his father's studio when he was a kid. "True cubism will be done with photography ! ". Given the path I was traveling with Mirage(s), I could not help but think that these words were addressed to me.
