Melancolia: 2022 Print - Limited Edition of 50

This series began on a 6 week trip to Guadalajara Mexico. Previously, I had been working on self portraits that dealt with aging and change. I think those issues were still percolating in my head, as I explored making images of things I found on the ground that usually go overlooked. A primary aspect of the self-portraits, was the notion of visibility or invisibility- the ease with which culture seems to become blind to you, as you age. But time isn't a light switch, where things change in a split second. No, maturing, age, deterioration happen slowly, over time. In these images, I try to capture a moment that hints at that process of change, while implying a narrative about it.
