ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I took this photograph on the fly while traveling to Harstad with my father. He was visiting me, and little did we know my visa would be denied three days later. This mountain, which looks no less forbidding in the summer, symbolizes the coldness I experienced during the ensuing exchanges with authorities.

I have been "in the closet" where studio art is concerned for a long time. I studied art history instead of studio and then, when I was about to make the leap, got convinced to start a Ph.D. in garment construction instead. I did not finish it. I sewed for many years and did some sketches now and then while I worked as a technical translator in order to maintain a visa in Europe. In 2023 I ordered some acrylic paints and a couple panels as a way of dealing with an unfortunate immigrations decision. Maybe that decision was not so unfortunate, after all, since I am finally doing something I enjoy.
