MY PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY Growing up with mother academic artist, my love of nature and perceptive appreciation of fine detail were instilled in me from the earliest age. My mother owned an old Japanese black-and-white model Yashica which was my first analogue practice camera. My passion for photography developed during my college years when I majored in Photography and Journalism from the College of Cultural Studies in Zagreb, Croatia. My photographic interests varied over the years, from documenting Australian Aboriginal cultural sites to nature photography. These days my photographic practice revolves around my daily meditation and is, indeed, my meditation practice. The ability to stop and appreciate raindrops, flowers, tree bark, wildlife, and breath-taking views has been lost to many in this modern world. My moments of silence and sojourn with nature readily translate into my images which I am happy to share at my exhibitions, art markets, and online. I resisted the swich from analogue to digital photography for as long as I could. I was concerned that the new technology would make me see things differently, but because of my previous analogue photography training, it hasn't impacted my ability to frame scenes on the spot, and to produce images that hardly ever require any cropping. I have preserved the attention to detail and careful selection of frames. I like digital photography for its more environmentally-friendly processes. This way, I can have the best of both worlds, old and new. My latest collection featured here is a series of modernist, semi-abstract photographs of the five elements: Water, Fire, Earth, Air, and Space. Watch this space for many more artworks! WATER: I find water as a medium fascinating: its ability to mirror other things; to create fascinating patterns on its surface; to flow over hard surfaces, finding its own path (as do we humans in our lives), always remaining independent and its own. These qualities have always appealed to me and are part of my individual make-up. I often find that I too only mirror whatever I encounter in life; that I too have the ability to be creative; to allow things to just wash over me, and to follow my own unique path.
