ABOUT THE ARTWORK

One fascinating thing about New Orleans is the stark contrast between old and new. The downtown area has a vibrant mix of restaurants, galleries, retail, and offices. In the warm morning light, these offices observe each other. They stand professionally, like their inhabitants, with a suit, ties, starched shirts, and polished shoes. But living in the glow of 300 years seeped in culture. Like the constant flow of time, the Mississippi flows at there foundations, ever-changing, ever-evolving. The contrasts inspired me in this scene between the cold steel and glass with the warm light and soft reflections. The symmetry of the architecture is decorated with random patterns of office lights against the backdrop of the smooth gradient of the morning sky.

Thomas Schneider was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, spent most of his adult life in northern Michigan, and now resides in New Orleans, Louisiana. His 45-year history with photographic art led him to explore many styles and techniques, producing a unique collection of images. Many of these pieces are now being offered to collectors for the first time. Moving to New Orleans in 2013, he works and socializes with many talented artists in various mediums. His emersion in this community has inspired new work and focus on his primary passion, abstracts. Finding aesthetically pleasing representations of the interplay of objects, color, and light, where that interplay is the "subject" rather than any individual element. That challenge continually pushes him to seek the places where that interplay hides in plain sight. website:
