Islands called Katič and Sveta Nedelja (Holy Sunday, the island with a church) are located one kilometer at the sea from Petrovac, Montenegro. Although this landscape is very attractive and one of the jewels of Montenegro, these islands hide a legend. A big sea storm destroyed the ship, and most of the crew perished in the blue of the Adriatic. The surviving sailors find refuge on a small island near Petrovac. As was the custom, as a sign of gratitude for salvation during the storm, a small church was built on the island. As the shipwreck happened on a Sunday, the church and the island were named Holy Sunday. The church was damaged in the great earthquake in 1979, but was recently restored. It is still believed to protect seafarers.
