ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The farmer's cottage had been abandoned for years, used by drifters and the homeless until a hurricane blew through the area, collapsed the roof, and tore off the side. I kept hearing the line from the poem Ozymandias as I drove by the place. "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!" by Percy Bysshe Shelley - 1826 I thought it would be apropos to photograph the galactic core above the abandoned cottage. The house is completely gone now, bulldozed away. However, the Milky Way is still rising and falling as the Earth turns. I can almost feel our tiny world drifting through the "great enveloping cosmic dark." For me, there is no more humbling experience. I want to remind the viewer how small humankind is in my landscape work. How important that we try to be kinder to each other and to this world we live in. We are just a collection of stories at the end; we only need to make them good ones. Captured on March 31st, 2019, 3:52 AM - 16x20 Metal Print You can also open edition fine art prints or canvas here via Saatchi. Drop me a line if you have any questions.
