ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In May of 2023, I went for a bike ride because I needed to clear my mind a bit. For various reasons, I wasn't feeling quite myself and hoped that some exercise would lift my spirits. At a certain point, I arrived near a grassy field that, in that area, marks the boundary between the edge of the city and the beginning of the true countryside. A sort of middle ground, if you will. I know that area well because I pass through it from time to time. However, since it was May, the landscape had completely transformed: the green field was filled with thousands upon thousands of poppies. I was struck by a powerful emotion, perhaps similar to what Ciàula felt upon seeing the moon. Fortunately, I had my camera with me, so I was able to take several photos. One of these I reinterpreted as perhaps some French artist of the 19th century might have imagined it. Naturally, I don't dare compare myself to those illustrious figures; mine is merely a free association of ideas. I still hope you like the photo.

"ART is like a ROTTEN eggplant". I take pictures to express what I feel, not just what I see. Each image is a personal reimagining, a glimpse into something deeper—sometimes clear, often elusive. Inspiration comes from films, books, and the quiet spaces I pass through. Over the years, I’ve shaped a way of working that blends curiosity with simplicity, letting the subject transform into something uniquely my own. Whether it’s a familiar scene or a distant place, my photos are less about documenting and more about interpreting—an invitation to see through a different lens. If you’d like, take a look. Each image holds a piece of that world, reimagined.
