ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Tal Shpantzer Bio: Tal's work in photography and image-making has been recognised in HBO, TOPMAN Generation Magazine, The NewYork Mag blog & . Israeli born photographer Tal Shpantzer has been based in New York since 2000. Tal has spent several years studying & shooting in Tel-Aviv, Prague & Europe after graduating from MCAD, with a B.F.A. degree in Photography/Media Art (Honors). Her work has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally. Most recently in HBO, MTV and W Magazine, a portrait of the artist Kiki Smith & in the feature film The Upside. She is the recipient of a Soros Center for Contemporary Art grant for her Limbus Diary series, and a Morrison Vanderlip media award. Tal is currently represented by Witzenhausen Gallery Amsterdam / New York. She is working on her first book publication. Artist Statement My interest in photography lies principally in exploring moments that are undefined. I am fascinated when a dialog emerges from what appears to be the simplest of moments from states of uncertainty and transience. A raw and unpretentious moment can reveal complexities, evoke imagined histories, and hidden truths.
