ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I used my own body to create this image. I positioned myself in Bālāsana, "Child's Pose", a traditional yoga asana. Child's pose flexes the body's internal organs. It lengthens and stretches the spine which helps alleviate stress and anxiety. I didn't know how the image was going to come out but I like the shape of the body floating mysteriously in the Prussian blue on this large paper support and the experience I had sustaining the pose whilst making this. The cyanotype process uses a mixture of iron compounds, which when exposed to UV light and washed in water oxidise to create Prussian Blue images. I'm a multidisciplinary artist & photographer born & living in London. Drawing inspiration from nature (human & the phenomena of the physical world) & infrastructure.
