ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Prada Tokyo store is a tall and narrow kaleidoscope-like structure that houses two floors. It reshapes both the concept and function of shopping, pleasure and communication, to encourage the meshing of consumption and culture. The artwork/photo is sold unframed, and will be carefully rolled in a hard tube with many layers of protection for safe international shipping. I work with top printing houses Tel-Aviv, Israel - that have extensive experience dealing with art galleries to make sure the art prints are of the highest gallery/museum quality. Printed on Canson Rag paper, a premium quality fine art paper which delivers the most accurate and vibrant colors in print as you see onscreen and also gives a touch of classic painting to the photo. The photo is printed with 2cm white border each side, which makes it easy for putting in frame. Signed, dated and inscribed with the title and edition number in ink reverso.

Born in 1962 to an artists family. I grew up in a house full of art, surrounded by beautiful colours and patterns of art and textile that were the inspiration playground of both my late father, the artist Itzhack Tarkay and myself. When I turned 8 years old I got my first camera from my father. I used to take many photos of my family and friend and him working, indoor and outdoors. I bought my first professional SLR camera when I was 15 and never stopped taking photos since then. Order, common sense, time and memories always play a key role in my life. I believe that moments are measuring practicals that exist to punctuate the human drama in order to clarify our existence and to find poetic meaning in everyday life. By taking daily life as a subject matter while commenting on the everyday aesthetics, I introduce the viewers into my world of ongoing opposing forces and the intervals in between them as a stream of daily events. My thoughts processes, which are supposedly private, highly subjective and unfiltered- refer an associates with my dream world and music. My photos are based on inspiring situations: visions that reflect a sensation of in-disputability and serene observation, combined with subtle details of odd or irregular elements. In my work I am making the effort to amplify the viewers’ experience by creating compositions or by setting that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and alienation.
