About The Artwork

The recliner is a narrative exploring concepts of birth, death, sexuality, and war. Recliner is very sexual as the waves of sensuality flows over this image as a landscape should have some kind of movement even in it's stillness. Empty of a figure yet still alive, fashion can be skin deep or take the viewer beyond the cloth to imagine what lies beneath. Having a strong attraction to fashion and the "Fabric of our Lives" how we pin an identity on what we wear lending the viewer to better understand us or a pretense and "Fabrication" of what we want others to think...is the dress bones or waves? Are the shoes very much a part of the feminine mystique souls or objects easily discarded and removed? They are silver/metallic to represent precious metals. The artists influencing the direction of my work would be Keith Haring and Don Wallen.

"CREATION begins with VISION...." (with due apologies to Matisse). Elements of life constantly change and reveal themselves to us daily. As an artist I work them into my art. Sometimes the reveal requires subtle blending, sometimes it's in your face bold and splashy. The part I play is appreciating what is revealed composing a piece that tells the story.
