Roaring Tetons was created from a photograph of a bison in Grand Teton National Park, just outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was taken in the Fall of 2019 during a wildlife photography tour. At one time, there was an estimated 30-60 million bison in the US, but in the mid 1800's there was a mass destruction of the bison. The railroad and western expansion led to over 2 million killed in the plains each year. by 1884, there were only around 325 wild bison left in the United States. Fortunately, due to conservation efforts, the herd increased to 1,000 in 1910, and today there are one 500,000 bison in the United States.
