Layers and complexity drive Caroline's work. In this age of over-stimulation, she strives to create beauty in the chaos. The series of digital collages are a portrait of a place or experience, combining photographs of buildings, landscapes, or people with maps, text, or drawings. The result encourages active viewing to discover the various elements making up the whole image. Born and raised in Texas, Caroline studied Visual Arts at the High School for the Performing and Visual arts, focusing on mixed-media collage and sculpture. In 2001, she was selected as one of 20 high school students for a National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts ARTS award. Later, at Brown University, and while abroad in Paris at the Sorbonne and the Academie des Beaux-Arts, she studied film and art alongside her concentration in comparative literature. She first explored the possibilities of digital art while in her sophomore year. After graduating, Caroline joined the Peace Corps and served for 2 years in the Republic of Moldova. There she truly departed from other forms of art and focused primarily on the digital collage medium. Works are on display in private collections in the United States and Germany.
