About The Artwork

Imagine being so high that you are actually in a cloud and all the trees are in a cloud! This is one of the remarkable things about being in the hills of Paramin in Trinidad. This is the most iconic tree at the lookout area, because of the way it grows according to the high winds. This particular tree is made of one of the toughest barks in the country. The branches of this hardwood is actually used for stick fighting, a popular art form during Carnival celebrations. This lone tree can withstand the intense heat, high winds and heavy rainfall that the area experiences and it stands on its own, overlooking a beautiful view. It reminds us that the strongest trees have the deepest roots and have been through the most. That is what makes it most resilient, just like people.
