ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This photograph is inspired by chromotherapy, synesthesia and infrared photography. Each photo was taken with a macro lens, infrared filter and later manipulated allowing unexpected colour combinations, patterns and textures. Katie Kubrak uses this process to emphasise softness of shapes, light and shadows, which otherwise might get missed. "Spring 1" taps into the softness through shades of white and lilac, while set with contrasting hues of ultramarine blue.

Falling with the speed of 200 km/hr from altitude equal to 4 km. Diving into oceanic kingdom to interact with fabulous creatures inhabiting it. Reading a book and being teleported aboard Nautilus, Oceania or England ruled by King Lear. It does not matter what I occupy myself with - imagination acts as my constant companion. Our symbiosis is characterised by mutual development. Therefore, prior I fall into portraying experiences and sensations from what I do, at first I analyse what shall give me the most of it, and how I may fully explore it. I investigate the details of captivating objects, materials, surfaces, textures. This practice nurses my creativity and extends palette of stimulating frames that later on can portray when photographing.
