I have a wide ranging interest in photography with a longstanding interest in b&w (monochrome) work, although recently that has expanded to include more colour landscapes and abstracts. My interest in photography is about story telling with the viewer being both the author and the reader. Other than in landscapes my style often places the subject against an anonymous and featureless background, isolated from any sense of place. My intention is that through the absence of identifiable surroundings viewers are invited to concentrate upon the subject without being unable to place it within a context. It is for the viewer to speculate on the surroundings, and a context, which fits with their perception. My landscape/seascapes attempt to draw out the play of light across the land or water to give an image that is about mood and light, representing what I felt at the time rather than a pictorial record. Having said that I am now trying new approaches and techniques some of which are shown in this collection.
