ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I hired a driver/bodyguard to take me about one hour outside of Johannesburg, South Africa to see an area where refugees had landed. They built their huts out of cow manure and twigs, but what stood out to me was the pride they took in painting their door (and frame) red. I was invited inside, which was the size of a tent for two people where I saw the dirt floor and the few belongings they had on the floor along with a baby that couldn't have been more than 3 months old. This image is printed on canvas, gallery wrapped and in a dark wood floating frame. Ready to hang.

Betsey Chesler is a fine art photographer and photojournalist based in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her works encompass Landscapes and Architecture. Since the days of building cardboard cameras at age 10, Connecticut native and long-time Florida resident, Ms. Chesler has worked as a photographer in the print media, been published in national photography publications and participated in various collective and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. Her works are actively sought out by private collectors. Given her natural talent to visualize the aesthetic dimensions in her work, she enjoys creating color photography while pursuing her greatest passion of Infrared photography work. Overall, her passion is to create art through the use of natural light, without manipulation of subject or scene, focusing on tone and texture. In 2009, Ms. Chesler founded Cameras For Kids Foundation (CFKF), an international nonprofit providing cameras and weekly instruction to disadvantaged teens, teaching the art of photography while instilling self-esteem, self-confidence and offering the children a skill set.   The Foundation worked hands on with over 1,000 children throughout Canada, US and Haiti during its 8 active years.
