I was inspired by my recent trip to Tijuana, Mexico. I have always loved walking around and discovering cities on my own terms, you never know what you'll find. I really liked the desire for palm trees in this mural, these homes are right along the border with the US and there are not many trees or other plants around.

Amelia Opalinska grew up in Rzeszow in southeast Poland. She holds B.F.A. in photography and her works have been featured in numerous publications and group shows at SITE Santa Fe and The Gerald Peters Gallery. In 2003 she signed up for a TEFL course in Greece with the intent to go back to her native land. Instead, for the next few years, she traveled extensively through Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. Her photos from Syria were printed in the Publio magazine, and an intimate series depicting her childhood was published by PULSE Media. In 2013 she moved to Mexico, focusing more on her longterm passion for painting. Amelia Opalinska lives and works in Merida, Mexico as she continues to explore painting, writing and photography.
