About the Artist

Costas Vittis

Greece

Born and raised in Athens, I took up the camera in the early 1980s and a couple of years later I began my formal training in photography while studying Topography at The National Technical University of Athens (1983-1989).

My work is motivated by an existential need to express myself and connect with others, and understand the many and often incompatible sides of the ego, in a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. My intention is to create work that facilitates intimacy with the viewer and encourages empathy.

Since my first solo exhibition in 1988, my work has been presented in many group exhibitions and 7 solo shows and I have been awarded international awards and distinctions. I have published 3 photographic albums and 4 Artbooks. Some of my works are in public and private collections. Member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
