ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This collection was exhibited during the Covid lockdown in Toronto as a way to make the community feel connected through art. It was a series of slide projections exhibited at night inside a gallery near the window so people could walk by and have a look and still keep physical distance. My inspiration came from the feelings of being trapped and confined at home. It was a meditative process and most of the images I do not remember making as I let my feelings guide me. I used materials such as gels and plastics to make the shapes in the slide mounts. This photo is from a slide projection of the exhibit.

Idalina is an award winning producer and director with over 10 years of experience in film and television. She has produced, directed and written several films, documentaries, music videos and television programs in North America and across Europe. A Meisner trained actor and accomplished photographer, Idalina turned to visual arts during the Covid lockdown in spring 2020. After not being able to create in her usual settings, she started exhibiting her photographs at a local gallery. The need for more content for the projector inspired a whole new art form for her by using photo gels and plastics to create shapes and forms in the slide mounts. This is where her passion for projection art was born.
