About the Artist

Gustavo Osorio

Colombia

The work of Gustavo Osorio can be described as painterly and allegoric. His approach to photography is closely related to the style of painting popular in Europe in the XVI and XVII centuries, specially in still life painting in Flanders and the Netherlands, where three-dimensional volume is suggested by the value gradation of colour and the division of shapes created by light and shadows.

Through his work, Gustavo explores life and death. Both his depictions of arranged symbolic elements, and photographs of isolated nature subjects are addressing his concerns on the brevity of life and of his own mortality.

Currently based in Barcelona, Spain.
