ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The legacy of the human being until today is indisputably, brilliant, great for the concrete achievements of his intelligence and, however, he remains miserable trapped in his emotional poverty. Reason, considered as his greatest privilege and as the great difference from other animals, is at the same time his greatest torment. He needs to use that reason to find meaning in life. Trying a new harmony and integration with nature. Live with tolerance and balance with yourself and your peers. Our time reflects this dilemma. And the art is a reflection of the time. The Renaissance reflected a harmony between man and nature. An explosion of enthusiasm for nature in all its aspects – animal, plant, mineral, the mountains, the sky, the stars, all the dazzling colors. What I see today is a gap between the human being and nature and more specifically between the artist and nature. I want, through my art, to show my enthusiasm for life, for nature in all its forms, specifically emphasizing the need to see that nature is us. And one component, within nature, has always attracted me, for its strength, beauty and for being essential to life: water. Thus, I portray, in a personal way, what I feel when I see the waters. Its reflexes, its aggregates, its strength, its speed, renewal, cleanliness, its colors and the life it brings with it. For two and a half years I photographed the waters of Serra do Rola Moça and the life around these springs and springs. These are photos of the bottom of the rivers created by the water sources that supply the basins of the Rio das Velhas and Paraopeba rivers, two rivers that are essential for supplying 80% of all water in greater Belo Horizonte, with more than 3 million inhabitants.
