About the Artist

Anne-Kathrin Knappe

Germany

my name is Anne-Kathrin Knappe, I'm 42 years old and I live in Germany. I came to photography as an autodidact in 2014 and since then I have been intensively and passionately involved in photographing abandoned places around the world. My pictures and my focus are in the context of the aesthetics and beauty of decay. I want to motivate the viewer to believe your eyes and immerse yourself in a world of light and color reflections. The uniqueness and beauty is in the detail and last but not least in the ugly. Spaces in dissolution, spaces that are about to become one with what surrounds them. Carpets of moss and grass, old industrial plants and huge old cathedrals, that transform into a realm where a fern becomes a fairytale robe for what is left when man leaves.
