Welcome to my artistic world where the intricate nature of gaze intertwines with power dynamics, inspiring my creative endeavors. Influenced by visionary thinkers such as John Berger, Laura Mulvey, and Jacques Lacan, I explore the captivating relationship between the male gaze and queer male desire. Through my art, I challenge conventional masculinity, seeking to dismantle objectification while delving into the gendered aspects of self-centered pleasure in looking. My journey as an artist has been enriched by an immersive exploration of contemporary fine arts theory during my Masters program, providing me with a profound understanding of the theoretical underpinnings that shape my creative expression. Drawing inspiration from ancient religious texts, I embark on a transformative reimagination of Christian icons. Each stroke of my brush, every sculptural form, and the thoughtful assemblage of collages and films encapsulate my distinctive artistic voice. My artistic evolution encompasses a diverse range of projects. From the evocative series dedicated to Mary in 2010 and 2011, where I breathed new life into her iconic presence using various techniques, to the multidimensional exploration of 'Odd Sly Flashes of Sarcasm' from 2013 to 2015, which unfolded through sculptures, paintings, collages, and films. This series masterfully deconstructed established narratives, inviting viewers to ponder the convergence of disparate elements in a mesmerizing symphony of storytelling. In 2015, my creative vision soared to greater heights with 'X Bible.' This ambitious endeavor immersed viewers in a captivating realm where films, fanzines, and mixed media paintings converged. Within this multimedia tapestry, I distilled bite-sized films from the magnum opus titled '200 Watchers,' offering glimpses into a vivid world where women grappled with the seductive allure of sin and ancient notions of love were reimagined. Reflecting upon my artistic growth, I take immense pride in the profound impact of my work and the unyielding dedication to pushing artistic boundaries.
