What do hens and black umbrellas have in common? Both unexpectedly became symbols of the National Women's Strikes that have been taking place in Poland since 2016. "Hen” is an epithet that, thanks to some politicians, many internet users and right-wing journalists, has stuck to women striking in defence of the right to abortion. In Poland, a hen is a contemptuous term for an unemployed housewife who has no opinions or interests. The women's rights organization, instead of fighting this term, turned it into an asset, giving women the slogan "Become a strike hen and hatch the petition" (this term in Polish sounds so much better than in English!). After the first strikes in 2016 world TV stations and the Internet were full of photos and videos from drones showing thousands of people with black umbrellas flooding Polish squares and streets. Immediately they contributed to calling these events “black protests”, as they are called until today. NFT sales: Monika Onoszko artworks started selling in 2022. With a black simple frame.

Monika Onoszko is an interdisciplinary artist working in a few creative fields. She graduated from The Strzeminski Academy of Fine Art in Poland and the kimono design faculty in the Onoe Fashion Institute in Japan. Her career began (with success) in the fashion industry. From the very beginning though she engaged with theatre projects designing costumes for the most famous Polish scenes, including the biggest as National Theatre. She kicked off her movie adventure by working with the best professionals on creating costumes for the movies of a well-known Polish director Jan Jakub Kolski and winning awards for best costumes in 2018 in Poland. In her portfolio, there are also numerous tv commercials, fashion videos and music videos including many international productions. She worked with such clients as Warner Bros, VF and LG Electronics. Recently she is creating linocuts which with woodblock printing and etching were always her favourite techniques. Despite the fact of having the same achievements in this field as well (several art exhibitions in Japan, Spain and Poland) art was always some sort of a side job/passion while the costumes were the main focus. Now she decided to finally make a switch and put the graphics at the centre of her career… Monika Onoszko artworks started selling in 2022 also as NFT:
