Second work I made in Printmaking base in Gaunlan in China where I spent two months as artist in residency. I was inspired by famous Asian woodcuts, and decided to combine that inspiration with drawing a plant I know so well from beck home in Serbia, chestnut.

I find my work portrayed by the principles of process-art, land-art, informel and ready-made, with the background found in the ecological consciousness. I work mainly with wood, directing the whole process of its transformation through the different aggregate states. Uniqueness of the color and the structure of wood craves for touch and the result of this contact is the embodying and the materialization of what was initially a two-dimensional image. In struggling to overcome the resistance of a giant wooden piece, in focusing the attention on the precision and neatness, and sometimes only in pure enjoyment of touching this material, I find the idea of its artistic quality. Because I do not to use any color to the natural, local tone, my work has the elements of factuality, objectivity and that impalpable element of time, spent in the anxiety about the outcome - a specific tone, shade, which, unlike the texture does not allow to be calculated. I aim to trade the well known vivid color painting for the reduced ready-made palette of natural materials in all its unpredictability. I count on the response of the material aging, on the change of its smell and finally on sensing the atmosphere of just won battle for the right measure of the intervention over the nature. Having this in mind I constantly seek for the ambiental qualities and the multidimensionality in my work.
