The iconic shape of the High Heel makes femininity an institution. Artist Sarina Latumahina has been researching this form for 25 years, with a determined and recognizable line. She also screen prints the High Heels on products such as shirts and bags. As a artist I'm curious about the theme girl becomes a women. Like the social media and in the early days the TV-commercials. Always a beautiful girl/women who's selling a brand. In the past she was not that important. Nowerdays the girl/women can be a very important subject with the brand or product because she has controle on Social Media items like, Instagram and You Tube. This transformation inspires me to paint this femine revolution @ the 21th century.

As half Indonesian and half Dutch, I grew up with cultural differences and the conflicts of simple parents. The admiration and beauty of this mix was not hidden by the outside world. However, at the same time you are in possession of the Dutch or the Indonesian side, where there are demonstrations to uphold the right to your body, work and study as a woman. This causes serious conflict in one household, where the Roman Catholic faith plays a very important role.
