ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Deep in the forest sits a moss-covered rock under an old mossy tree. The cool blue mist hangs around the roots, angling up towards the sky. A thin sliver of light streaks across the moss to reveal a variety of jeweled colors that would delight a sultan. Many times I have seen these types of rocks with a fun variety of mossy shapes dappling the surface. I have never forgotten them. n the beginning, I work with paper and pencil to create an extremely rich fully rendered image. This is then scanned into the computer into Photoshop where I add layer upon layer of colors. The pencil technique stands out over the color to create a feeling of a lithograph type of textured detail. I am inspired by the Northwest American landscapes, rich with moss, ferns, waterfalls, mist, evergreens, old growth forests, and mystery. I hope you will feel like this is a place you can visit, but maybe a bit more magical or fabulous than reality, but still with a sense of familiarity. I am inspired by American Art: a bit of Native American with Central American with Frank Lloyd Wright. The original is a highly detailed pencil rendering that is scanned into a computer where I paint in the rich colors.

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I've been designing movies for over 25 years for Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, Blue Sky, Francis Ford Coppola, and many others on such films as Pocahontas, Hercules, Tarzan, Finding Nemo, WALL-E, Inside Out, Prince of Egypt, Boxtrolls, and Epic. I also produce comic books for Marvel and Dark Horse Comics, and children's books for Carolrhoda. My novel, The Anubis Tapestry, is being produced as an animated feature for Blue Sky Studios, creator of the Ice Age movies. I am inspired by the landscapes of northwest America and wish to create images that feel like a place you could go to, but more fantastic and timeless.
