ABOUT THE ARTWORK
These monotypes are from my series “Eventide” based on memories of my residency at Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Envisioning a moonlit return to nearby ruins, I used a reduced palette of colors available to the Irish monks of the 8th century. This series is a contemplation on those who have come before and the space that is found in their wake.

Colleen Blackard travels between Brooklyn, NY and Austin, TX, and creates artwork inspired by the light of the Texas skies of her youth. She is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, recently completed a residency at Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat, Co. Kerry, Ireland, and she received a BA from Hampshire College, MA. Her work has been shown in ACA Galleries, Owen James Gallery, Brooklyn Fire Proof, and more. She is represented by Aberson Exhibits in Tulsa, OK. Her drawings are in Pierogi Gallery's Flat Files and she was interviewed for their artists’ Q&A. Her work has also been featured in Drawing Magazine and Nippon TV in Japan.
