About The Artwork

Signed Artwork by Kay Uwe Rott. Open Edition. A Short Story about the young Geisha Sakura: Sakura was a young geisha who lived in a small teahouse on the outskirts of Kyoto. One day, a stranger arrived at her door, seeking refuge from a rainstorm that had just begun to pound against the roof. Sakura welcomed the stranger inside and offered him a cup of tea to warm him up. She sat him down at a low table and began to prepare the tea in a small teapot. As she worked, Sakura hummed a tune under her breath, her movements graceful and deliberate. The stranger watched in awe as she measured out the tea leaves, poured hot water over them, and whisked the mixture until it was frothy and smooth. When the tea was ready, Sakura poured it into small cups and presented one to the stranger. He took a sip and was surprised by the delicate and complex flavors that filled his mouth. "Wow, this is amazing," he said, marveling at the tea's taste. Sakura smiled shyly. "I'm glad you like it." As the rain continued to fall outside, Sakura and the stranger sat together, sipping tea and chatting about life. They talked about everything from the weather to their hopes and dreams, and as they talked, the stranger found himself drawn to Sakura's gentle spirit and kind heart. Before he left, the stranger asked Sakura if he could come back and share a cup of tea with her again sometime. Sakura smiled and nodded, and from that day on, the two became close friends, bonded by their love of tea and their appreciation for each other's company.
