Gil Carvalho initially studied architecture before enrolling at Cordwainers @ London College of Fashion to study footwear design.
He worked with Vivienne Westwood after graduating and quickly established his name amongst the new breed of shoe designers, launching his own label in 2005. His clientele included Madonna, Kylie, Fergie and Lindsay Lohan. Commissions from the Brunei Royal family followed and from several high-end fashion labels, including LVMH.
Most recently he has produced a range of limited edition prints, exploring the relationship between art and design. He takes inspiration in fashion and pop art and uses different media such as hand drawing, screen printing, photography and digital to create bold and iconic images.
