About The Artwork

An impossible situation that wants to symbolize the effort and the continuous difficulties that a painter must overcome to reach ever higher artistic and technical levels. This image is part of the “Photographing the Process of Creation” project. This is a photographic research project whose aim is to investigate the essence of painting and what painting implies, mainly in terms of the thought and inspiration of the painter. Thanks to a digital zoom lens, a detailed enlargement of this artwork can be scanned on the Portfolio-Artists page of the author’s website, www.innovativefineart.com.

Born and raised in Italy and trained in the USA, I now live and work between Brazil and my native country. I take photos of our inner world, of the deep emotions and moods hidden from the eyes. I make them visible and felt.
My images evoke alternative perceptions of what is visually apparent (synesthesia), transforming visual input into, for example, sounds or scents. A keen classical pianist with a career in science behind me, in 1994 I moved to California, to attend the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. Combining these two facets of my life has enabled me to approach photography in a unique and innovative way. My unwavering technical abilities and scientific accuracy enable me to translate my artistic sensibility, keen sense of aesthetics, and vivid imagination into works of art. I invest a significant amount of time in post-production (an average of 30–40 hours per image and up to 120), often combining multiple shots, although this is rarely apparent and the sometimes impossible physical result still looks real and possible. As an artist and researcher, I follow my soul's guidance and don't stop at a successful style since, to me, it means it’s already been conquered and revealed.
