ABOUT THE ARTWORK
There's nothing more intimidating than the distinctive noise a rattlesnake's tail makes! Its an unnerving set of maracas that communicates "you better mind where you step or be ready for what comes next!" Fortunately I've personally never come across a rattlesnake as large as this sculpture although they are known to grow to this size. This sculpture is a very large rattlesnake tensioned up with that distinctive rattle set and ready to give the viewer a buzz. This is a steel sculpture with a warm brown patina. Heat treatment has brought out quite a few colors along this serpent's coils.

I'm a sculptor and metalworker producing artwork inspired by the spectacular wildlife in the Southwestern desert. I believe art must not be static for it to connect. It has to feel kinetic, jarring, moving. I try to mix the physical and anatomical aspects of the animals I sculpt with the way they move or behave in nature. I love nice clean lines mixed with the rough, volcanic process of forging and working steel. All of the hours I put into a piece is documented on it's surface.
